Synthesis of science and religion

Religion has always been taken to mean rituals, worship of God, elaborate ceremonies, and superstitious beliefs; spiritual experience forms equally the core. But to establish the connection of science with religion has been the endeavour of Fritjof Capra. He first published his work Tao of Physics in 1975. It has been well received, with a dozen reprints to its credit. He has produced a highly commendable work, both in the treatment of the subject and the style of presentation, with quotations from the founders of quantum and atomic theory like Werner Heisenberg and Niels Bohr. Philosophers like Bertrand Russell, Albert Einstein, Lao-Tzu and Sri Aurobindo are cited in the development of the topic. The synthesis of science and religion has a long history, dating from the works of Pascal (1623-62), Leibniz (1646-1716), Crookes (1832-1919) and Planck (1858-1947).
