The magnificent Matrimandir

LOST:My favorite character in this thrilling television series is John Locke, apart from Sayyid and Hurley. (the Fatso) Interaction between these members in a deserted island is typically like what is taking place in the real world. In other words, suspicion and vested interests dominate alongside occasional human hopes, fulfilled.
I am trying to draw an analogy between these LOST souls and The Matrimandir which is being constructed at the heart of Auroville in Pondicherry in South India. Most Indians are hardly aware of this magnificent piece of sacred architecture. According to the reports available at the Auroville website, there is no comment about the discrepancies whether the chamber is made in conformity with the visions of The Mother.
The Holy Quran : Surah Ya Sin
Verse 14 -
"We sent to them two messengers and they denied both.
Then We sent a third one to strengthen them,
and they all said, "We have been sent to you as Messengers."
Verse 15 -
The people said, "You are no more than men like us,
and the Merciful God has sent down nothing:
you are only telling a lie."
Sura Al-Balad, or the City.
"Nay I do swear by this City
And thou art an inhabitant of this City.
And the begetter that he begot.
Verily, we have created man into toil and struggle.
Thinketh he that none hath power over him?
He may say boastfully: "Wealth have I squandered in abundance!"
Thinketh he that none beholdeth him?
Have we not made for him a pair of eyes?
And a tongue, and a pair of lips?
And shown him the two highways?
But he had made not haste on the path that is steep.
And what will explain to thee the path that is steep?
It is freeing the bondsman.
Or the giving of food in a day of privation.
To the orphan with claims of relationship.
Or to the indigent (down) in the dust.
Then will he be of those who believe,
and enjoin patience and deeds of kindness and compassion.
Such are the companions of the right hand.
But those who reject our signs,
hey are the unhappy companions of the left hand.
On them will be fire vaulted over."
Which is why the Matrimandir is such an interesting idea. Imagine all cities or towns having at least ONE temple where there is complete SILENCE. All visitors are required to be completely still when they enter the chamber and there is always a minimum number of people meditating ALL the time. In fact this is what is taking place even now but it is not an organized effort. The people meditating are spread out all over the globe and are inter-connected only in an astral sense… but in the future, this is quite possible. posted by Zafar Satyavan Location: Shillong, Meghalaya, India Wednesday, November 23, 2005 at 1:27 PM
