ABSTRACT: Sri Aurobindo (1872-1950), a widely known spiritual teacher and a leading exponent of modern Indian philosophy, made seminal contributions to yoga philosophy and spiritual psychology which underpin the current wave of interest in Indian spirituality and consciousness studies. Dr. Miovic will examine Sri Aurobindo's model of consciousness as a basis for a geospiritual understanding of planet Earth which links the seven chakras of classical yoga to the seven jewel centers in the Earth Mother. The challenge of global warming may demand an inspiring, spiritual vision of the Earth, and the evolution of human consciousness, precisely what Sri Aurobindo envisioned for a brighter future.
