Capitalism breaks what it cannot price—ritual, kinship, caste, village life—replacing duty with contract, belonging with transaction. It freed us from the ‘supposed tyranny’ of blood and tradition, only to bind us to the logic of capital.

Cultural Marxism is largely a scapegoat—a convenient invention by capitalists to deflect blame and distract. It’s just another polished tool in their broader narrative machine.

The monopolisation of ‘empathy’ in the Liberal Arts discourse leads to some observations. It’s good to repeat them even if they are ubiquitous. The stream uses empathy to legitimise a discourse and a narrative which is selective and constrictive.

A majority of the stream’s practitioners find themselves ill-equipped to believe that the rest of the world can be empathetic too. So, fundamentally this liberal discipline actually makes you illiberal.

The discipline also gives you the licence to look down upon those with a different opinion from its self-made pedestal of righteousness and virtue signalling...

Liberal Arts stream brainwashes you into believing that no one except you has empathy. This saviour complex is deeply problematic because it makes you justify illiberal behaviour. The stream itself is nothing but an extension of the ‘white man’s burden’.

We define a state as the entity that has a monopoly on violence.

But does political authority lead to political legitimacy?

How do we even define it?

@ajay_shah & I discuss the thorny issue of state legitimacy in episode 98 of Everything is Everything:

Books, undoubtedly, take us on a ride — either into the deep-rooted reality of society or far beyond into a dream state and often everything in between. Dreams are mysterious and sometimes meaningful — they send signals, boost confidence, and motivate people to visualise goals that can be brought to life. Even before finding the means to achieve the target, our mind sees the end result. In other words, dreams pave the way for us to be ambitious and enjoy the fruit of our labour. Sonu M Kothari
