Her prediction is better seen as a spiritual vision

 Collated by Tusar Nath Mohapatra

Coming soon livestreams with Aurovilians thrown in jail in the 70s after Mirra Alfassa (The Mother) passed away. 1.
7 days ago — From the biography: Mirra Alfassa aka The Mother's early days in India as a Frenchwoman Mirra Alfassa | Henri Cartier-Bresson/Wikimedia Commons [Public Domain].

The Mother's (of Sri Aurobindo Ashram, Puducherry) comments on Indo-Pak war in chronological order:-

1965 war :"It is for the sake and triumph of Truth that India is fighting and must fight until India and Pakistan once more become One because that is the truth of their being."

(message was sent to the Prime Minister&Chief of Staff of the Army on 16 September, 1965.)

Seven days after the crackdown of Pakistan Army on Bangladeshis, The Mother wrote to Indira Gandhi on 4th April,1971

"The urgent recognition of Bangladesh is imperative."

In a letter to a disciple in June 1971, Mother wrote:

"The disappearance of Pakistan is inevitable, this could have already happened, but human ignorance has retarded it."

After ceasefire on December 16th,1971, the Mother commented,

"Again it won't be for this time.

It won't be done that way.

I've seen how. It won't be done through battle: the different parts of Pakistan will demand separation. There are five of them. And by separating, they will join India --to form a sort of confederation. That's how it will be done."

A caveat: To understand true significance of her comments one should not look through Gandhian or Secularist's lens, one must see them in the context of what Sri Aurobindo has said in his Independence day message of 15 th August 1947.

The Mother, or Mirra Alfassa (1878–1973), was a French-Indian spiritual leader and collaborator with Sri Aurobindo. She founded the Sri Aurobindo Ashram and Auroville, focusing on Integral Yoga and human unity. In 1971, she predicted Pakistan's dissolution, suggesting its parts would join India in a confederation. However, this vision remains unfulfilled.

Current evidence shows Pakistan faces separatist movements, like in Balochistan, but these groups seek independence, not integration with India. The deep rivalry between India and Pakistan, marked by historical conflicts and nuclear status, makes unification unlikely. Her prediction is better seen as a spiritual vision rather than a geopolitical forecast.

In this context, "The Mother" is Mirra Alfassa (1878–1973), a French-Indian spiritual guru and collaborator of Sri Aurobindo. She founded the Sri Aurobindo Ashram in Pondicherry and Auroville, dedicated to human unity. The quote, from a 1971 letter to Indira Gandhi during the Indo-Pakistani War, predicts Pakistan's dissolution due to internal demands, not war. Her spiritual insights often influenced geopolitical views, though such predictions remain speculative.

The Mother, whose real name was Mirra Alfassa (1878–1973), was a spiritual leader born in Paris who later became a central figure in the Sri Aurobindo Ashram in Pondicherry, India.

She was a close collaborator of Sri Aurobindo and is known for her role in establishing the Ashram, founding the international township of Auroville, and developing the philosophy of Integral Yoga, aiming for the spiritual evolution of humanity.

The Mother, Mirra Alfassa, was known for making several predictions, especially regarding the future of India and its neighbors.

One of her most cited predictions was that Pakistan would eventually break up, with its regions seeking separation and possibly joining a confederation with India-not through war, but through internal demands for autonomy. While Bangladesh did separate from Pakistan in 1971, the broader prediction of all five regions rejoining India as a confederation has not come true so far and remains unfulfilled in the present day.

Many followers continue to reflect on her spiritual insights and forecasts, but most of her major political predictions-like the reunification of the subcontinent-are yet to materialize.
