[PDF] Yoga as Cultural Resistance: Postcolonial and Indigenous Revivals
As part of the Discover India Program, our undergraduate students explored the world of Adishakti Theatre Arts through their project, “The taal Of Adishakti Theatre, Auroville, Tamil Nadu,” a performance laboratory known for its research-driven approach and reinterpretation of tradition.
Their study highlights how physical training, breath work, and rhythm are integral to Adishakti’s philosophy, where discipline and exploration come together to shape innovative performances and a living culture of creativity.

India’s conservative revolution began around the turn of the twentieth century with Vivekananda, Bipin Chandra Pal, Aurobindo and other leaders of the Swadeshi movement, and continued through Gandhi’s leadership of the Indian National Congress. These pioneers of Indian nationalism sought to domesticate the liberalism they encountered under colonialism by subsuming modern science into Hindu mysticism, while defending the institution of caste as a superior, more harmonious and communitarian alternative to the liberal ideal of rights-bearing individuals thrown into the vagaries of the marketplace.

The most ancient, consistent marker of brahmanical supremacy is the toxic dual-idea that verbal attacks on upper-caste groups or concepts/gods deserve physical punishment, but physical attacks BY upper-caste groups on others are dharmic duty & dont even deserve verbal reprimand.

In summary, while Ambedkar's pragmatic engagements with the British and conditional preferences for their rule (to protect minorities) substantiate claims of wanting "continuity" in specific scenarios, labeling him an "agent" lacks direct proof and often stems from ideological bias. He was a complex figure prioritizing social equality in a caste-ridden society, contributing significantly to independent India's framework. But because he’s a Hindu godman? Silence. Hypocrisy. Double standards on full display! The way they protect their own while attacking others is shameless and infuriating.

Don’t normalize moronic behavior. What do you mean by “public space”? I’m not in the business of entertainment. Entertainers put up with hate and criticism because exposure brings them publicity, fame, and money. I’m an academic doing my swadharma. Not chasing profit or praise. Why should serving dharma require that I accept abuse from people pretending to be in the same camp? Stop lecturing me to ignore. Morons making ad hominem attacks on me and my family and keyboard activists blind to the Kurukshetra Hindus are fighting will be shown their place. If I can confront the enemy outside the camp, I can vanquish the enemy within as well.

Religions can’t all be investigated through the same analytical lens because the lens has to match the religious claims and teachings. Christianity makes exclusive, historical, and universal truth-claims. So, it must be tested historically and logically.
Hindu dharma, by contrast, teaches pluralism, experientialism, and philosophy. So, it must be examined through practice and philosophy. The right lens here is hermeneutic, experiential, and philosophical rather than historical-dogmatic.

Neoplatonism provided a clear theology for the expression of monotheistic principles, thereby challenging the exclusivity of the Judaeo-Christian religions in this sphere, while at the same time also accommodating and rationalising all popular religious traditions and myths. Neoplatonists were problematic for Christians also because they did not fit the standard Christian stereotype of the pagan as a blood-thirsty unsophisticated barbarian. For instance, Porphyry was a highly educated Pythagorean and hence argued against blood sacrifice of animals (like Christians were) and espoused vegetarianism as essential for spiritual health

Christianity did not amount to much as a Jewish sect and was widely rejected as a heresy. The real success of Christianity would come about when it was taken out of its original Jewish context and supplanted in the wider gentile (non Jewish) world. While Christianity was failing as a Jewish sect based on a crucified Jewish messiah, a devout Pharisaic Jew named Paul of Tarsus had the perfect epiphany to make it into a world religion. He proposed that faith in Jesus as the atoning messiah was not just open to the Jews (the original chosen people of God as per the Hebrew Bible) but for all humans.
How can Christians find Hinduism be the most perverse when they have all this in their Bible? I can’t see anyway to have Bhakti towards Yahweh when taking these verses literally and historically. Honestly yaar, have you all atleast read your own Bible fully atleast once from cover to cover?

This is why the Christian Right represents such a danger to America. It embodies the very opposite of the enlightened & visionary leadership of the post-Christian American Founding Fathers.
