Visit to Ramakrishna Math (Ashram) in Bangalore Shailendra Jain
Last Saturday I visited Ramakrishna Math at Basavangudi. It is a beautiful place. There is a simple and elegant Temple of Ramakrishna. Another attraction is the stone hillock where Ma Sarada meditated when she came to Bangalore. Math is still keeping the stone bench on which Swami Vivekananda sat.
I bought "My Life Story by Swami Abhedananda", "Swami Vivekananda and Sri Ramakrishna in Sri Aurobindo's Writings" and some other books. Swami Abhedananda biography provides a good account of Sri Ramakrishna and his times. It also reminds one of Lord Krishna's promise in Gita that a yogi, in his next life, will start his sadhana again where he had left it in last birth. In Sri Aurobindo book, I found the avatar evolution philosophy quite interesting. Probably nobody had thought about it before Sri Aurobindo. The address of Math is - Ramakrishna Math & Ramakrishna Mission (Shivanahalli) Bull Temple Road Bangalore 560019 Phone: 080-26613149 posted by Shailendra Jain Monday, November 28, 2005 at 11:23 PM
